Description
The monument comprises two enclosures of prehistoric date, visible as cropmarks on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies in arable farmland at around 25m OD. There are two sub-rectangular, ditched enclosures. The western enclosure measures about 37m WNW-ESE by 25m, with a gap in the NNE side. Only three sides are visible of the eastern enclosure. It measures about 11m NNW-SSE by at least 12m, with the ditch about 1m wide. These enclosures are most likely of Iron Age date, judging by their plan form.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is sub-rectangular, measuring 80m ENE-WSW by 70m transversely, bounded on the SSE by a roadside fence, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract. It is crossed by a field division fence, which is itself excluded from scheduling.
