Description

David Rhind dated 1876. 3-storey 2-bay bargeboarded villa with large side entrance porch. Cream sandstone, stugged ashlar front with polished dressings, squared and snecked stugged rubble to rear and sides. Moulded string course above 1st floor rising over central lights; chamfered reveals; overhanging eaves with exposed rafters; incised barbegoards; shouldered and corniced stacks.

NE (FRONT) ELEVATION: M-gabled; left bay with full-height canted window with half-piend roof. Bay to right with bipartite window to ground and 2nd floor; tripartite window to 1st floor. Raised entance porch to outer right, accessed by steps with ashlar balustrade, catslide roof with timber brackets rising from stone corbels, roll-moulded shouldered-arch doorway with panelled door and plate glass fanlight.

SW (REAR) ELEVATION: asymmetrical M-gables with tall central round-arched stair window with coloured border glazing.

NW ELEVATION: 3-bay; central gabled bay with kingpost, bipartite window at 1st floor; small round-arched window above, entrance porch on return. Tall gabled bay to right with apex stack and later double garage at ground floor. Blank recessed bay to left with wallhead stack.

SE ELEVATION: 3-bay; secondary entrance door to ground floor; central bay with bipartite windows and wallhead raised in gablehead with apex stack. Single windows and wallhead stacks flanking.

Timber sash and case windows with plate glass glazing; slate roof with l ead flashings; 2 wallhead stacks, 2 apex stacks (see above); ornamental gutterheads.

INTERIOR: not seen 1992.

Tall rubble wall to rear and sides with semi-circular coping, low wall to front with saddleback coping.
