Description
Originally early 19th century, 2 storey over raised basement,
the outer bays with full height bows. Extended and recast
by W L Carruthers, 1907-8.
Now 2 storeys and attic over raised basement, 7 bay with
centre door, the outer bays being bowed to full height,
that to left being original to old house. Harled, ashlar
long and short quoins, dressings and margins. Outer bows
linked by projecting raised basement carrying balustraded
terrace approached by flight of steps. Centre door at ground
floor with moulded and lugged architrave flanked by
tripartites; tripartites also at ground and 1st floor
outer bowed bays. 2 bipartites and 2 single windows 1st floor
between bowed bays. 6 dormers; the outer pair being bowed
and constructed within the apeces of curved piended roofs
of the bays; nos 2 and 5 being barge-boarded gablets and
the centre pair having wooden segmental pediments. 12-pane
sashes; moulded eaves cornice; corniced end and ridge
stacks; slate roof. Later 2 storey and attic single bay
wing set back at east gable, with balcony and shaped
eastern gable with capping segmental pediment.
Balustraded terraced garden; stone copes and balusters both
on house and in garden possibly re-used.
Interior: oak panelled to ground floor and enriched plaster
friezes, original stair case in situ as service stair
to left of front door.
