Description

Mid 19th century. 2-storey, 6-bay rectangular-plan double villa with service wing recessed to outer left and right; No 14 retains Georgian appearance; No 12 much altered; both subdivided. base course; dividing band course; deep eaves; raised window margins.

W ENTRANCE elevation:

No 12 to left: 3-bay timber classical porch across bays to centre and left comprising 3 keystoned round-arched leaded-light windows,pilasters, cornice, open pediment and blocking course to W; lugged surround to 2-leaf panelled doors to N return; single window to S return; single window to 1st floor behind. Full-height canted window in 3rd bay. Single windows in 1st bay; 2-storey service wing recessed to outer left; single windows to each floor; cornice and blinded balustrade to parapet.

No 14 to right: 3-bay round-arched doorway in centre bay; paired pilasters flanking panelled door; radiating fanlight; single window at 1st floor above. Single windows in flanking bays. Lattice pattern cast-iron balcony spanning 1st floor windows. Low 2-storey piend-roofed service wing recessed to outer right; single window at ground floor; small window above.

E (garden) elevation: full-height canted window in bay to outer right. Single windows in remaining bays; window made doorway at ground in 5th bay. 2-bay service wings slightly recessed to outer left and right.

N and S elevations: irregular fenestration to service wings. Plate glass sash and case windows to No 12; 12-pane sash and case windows to No 14. grey slate roof; corniced double wallhead and mutual stacks with round-arched links.

INTERIORS: not seen 1991.

Low coped wall to street; 4 fluted cast-iron gatepiers to No 12; high coped rubble mutual walls; modern flat-roofed garages to N and S.
