Description

Early 20th century, subdivided late 20th century. 2-storey and attic, 4-bay gabled house with pavilion-roofed tower. Squared and snecked rubble with stugged and droved ashlar margins; roughly coursed rubble to sides and rear. Raised bull-faced base course. Moulded doorpiece; stone mullions. Corniced tower with 1st floor cill course.

SW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: bay to left of centre with steps up to finialled tower with deep-set 2-leaf panelled timber door and plate glass fanlight, single window above and small window breaking eaves cornice into timbered dormerhead. Slightly set-back finialled gabled bay to left with polygonal-roofed 4-light canted window at ground, bipartite window above and small window in gablehead; further finialled gabled bay to right of centre with canted window at ground and single window at 1st floor. Further set-back bay to outer right with steps and flanking dwarf walls leading to panelled timber door and plate glass fanlight, bipartite window to each floor at right, that to 1st floor breaking eaves into timbered dormerhead.

NW ELEVATION: small window to centre at 1st floor, further window to left at ground with bipartite beyond and single window breaking eaves into stone dormerhead to outer left at 1st floor, blank bay to right.

SE ELEVATION: blank gabled elevation.

Plate glass glazing in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped brick stacks with full-complement of polygonal cans. Overhanging eaves with plain bargeboarding; decorative cast-iron finials.

INTERIOR: good screen door leading to stair hall with timber-balustered staircase and coloured glass stair window.

Eastfield House was divided into 4 flats during the late 20th century.
