Description

Early 19th century. Rough U-plan range of dairy outbuildings, comprising long rectangular-plan mill building, aligned E to W and

2 gabled ranges aligned N to S. Rubble, some harl.

MILL: rubble with ashlar margins and dressings; chamfered reveals. Cavetto eaves cornice.

S (MAIN) ELEVATION: 3-bay, 3-storey, symmetrical, rectangular-plan block. 3 doors symmetrically disposed at ground, broad hoist door at centre 1st floor, boarded wooden door; narrow ventilation slits symmetrically disposed at 1st and upper floors.

N (REAR) ELEVATION: 2 openings at ground outer left and right; that to left former door blocked as window, barred; door to outer right. Broad hoist door at centre of 1st floor, boarded door. Ventilation slits symmetrically disposed.

W GABLE: harled. 2-bay. 2 windows at ground, ventilation slits regularly disposed above, single ventilation slit in gablehead.

E GABLE: rubble with harl-pointing. 2 windows at ground, ventilation slits regularly disposed at upper stages.

INTERIOR: harled rubble interior. No fittings. Used as store.

4-pane timber sash and case windows on W gable; remaining windows broken/barred. Modern corrugated iron roof.

OUTBUILDINGS: 2, single storey gabled ranges immediately to S of mill forming U-plan. Rubble, partly harled; ashlar margins and dressings; stugged red sandstone margins. Eaves moulding.

E RANGE:

S (MAIN) ELEVATION: blank gable, ashlar chevron in gablehead.

N (REAR) ELEVATION: E range with gable, boarded hoist door at centre; lean-to block to left, broad door.

W ELEVATION: 3 doors symmetrically disposed.

E ELEVATION: lean-to storage bays.

W RANGE: domestic block.

S (MAIN) ELEVATION: blank gable, chevron obscured in gablehead.

E ELEVATION: lean-to porch to outer right, flanking windows to left.

W ELEVATION: 3 windows symmetrically disposed.
