Description
T G Abercrombie, architect. Arts and Crafts asymmetrcial
villa, 1 and 2-storey with 3-storey tower. Harl, red sandstone dressings, half timbering. Variety of glazing including
casements, mullion and transom, and bracketted timber oriel.
North front has advanced off centre half-timbered,
barge-boarded gable with square tower in re-entrant angle to
left. Half-timbered porch at foot of tower, mullion and
transom window to 1st floor, and half-timbered second floor
capped by finialled, wide-eaved pyramidal roof. South
elevation has circled south east corner with conical roof and
advanced half-timbered barge-boarded gable to south west,
linked by verandah with 4 timber Tuscan columns and
balustrade; swept dormer over, barge-boarded gables.
Half-timbered elevation barge-boarded gable to east elevation.
West elevation has barge-boarded gable swept dormer in
re-entrant angle to south, and single storey offices with
piended roof.
Red roof and ridge tiles to all. Harled stacks with ashlar
bands and cornices. Intricate plan single storey conservatory
attached to south west of house. Chimney-pieces and panelling
survive inside including fine inglenook to dining room with
2 Tuscan columns.
