Description

Early 19th century, 2 connecting buildings, 3 and 4 storeys, turning corner, ashlar and lined render to front, rubble stone to rear, base course, cornice above ground floor, deep eaves cornice. Pilastraded shopfronts.

E ELEVATION: front block; gable end, re-faced in stucco to resemble stugged ashlar at 1st to 3rd floors, quoined end to right, 5-bay pilastered shopfront at ground, door to right, windows flanking, 2 windows to left, that to outside blinded, 1st and 2nd floors symmetrical, window to left at 1st blocked, windows to left and centre at 2nd blinded, paired windows to centre in asymmetrical gablehead. Rear block (in close facing rear of 122-126 Murray Street); 1 door to right at ground, 1 window to left at ground, single bay projecting to left with door at ground.

N ELEVATION: front block; single bay with door at ground (at end of close between rear block and 122-126 Murray Street), 2-bay advanced rear block to right.

W ELEVATION: rear block; single bay to left, door and boarded window at ground, semi-circular stairtower to right, blocked doorway at ground, corbel above lintel, single bay in return to right, round-arch entrance, pilastered doorpiece within, decorative glazing to fanlight, windows at 1st and 2nd floors centred. Front block to right; lined render at ground, blocked round-arch doorway, 1 window at 1st, 2 windows at 1st and 2nd, pend at ground to right.

S ELEVATION: front block; 5-bay pilastered shopfront at ground, door off-set to right, window to right, 2 windows to left, lined render at 1st and 2nd floors, 4 bays, symmetrical, rounded corner to right as single bay, window at ground,blinded windows at 1st and 2nd floors.

Variety of timber sash and case windows, 12-pane to 1st floor, 18-pane to stairtower, plate glass or 12-pane elsewhere, grey slate, twin ashlar gablehead stacks to E and W, broad and tall brick stack to N of front block, rubble stone and brick stack to E of rear block.

INTERIOR: spiral staircase in stairtower, cast-iron banister, corniced doorpiece with recessed panelled door to apartment No 4 on 2nd floor, unusual hinges to sashes on staircase, several fielded panel doors survive in dental surgery on 1st floor.

BOUNDARY WALLS: coped rubble stone boundary walls to N and W.
