Description
Circa 1880. Gothic villa with double gabled frontage to N,
2 storeys, attic and basement. Coursed stugged ashlar with
polished margins and bands over each floor.
To left, steps with balustraded parapet to portico with
crocket capitals and gabled porch. Pointed arch doorpiece with
nook shafts and nailhead detail flanked by narrow lancets.
Art Nouveau oak panelled door with glazed panels. Windows
pointed arch with hoodmoulds or square headed and shouldered.
To right, meanly proportioned 3-light canted oriel to ground,
corniced and with lancet lights.
W elevation with single storey canted window to ground,
tripartite window to 1st.
S elevation, tripartite windows to left; canted 3-light oriel
to right. Sash windows, plate glass glazing; some upper sashes
with coloured leaded glass. Barge-boarded gables, tall
wallhead and axial stacks, slate roofs.
INTERIOR: good plasterwork with dog-tooth cornices, pointed
arch screen to hall with stairs with crocket capitals;
elaborate door cases with square hoodmoulds. Good figurative
art nouveau stained glass to bow windows (Arthurian subject)
and to stair light.
Low coped ashlar wall to garden; pair of tall corniced
gatepiers.
