Description

Later 19th century. 2-storey, with 1st floor breaking eaves, 7-bay (1-2-1-2-1) pair of houses, in terrace; Fernlea in 4 bays to right. Rendered. Channelled masonry at ground floor.

N (MAIN STREET) ELEVATION: doors in bays to left and right of centre, and in penultimate bay to left. Bipartite windows at centre and in outer bay to right at ground floor; single light windows in remaining 2 bays. Window at centre and in outer bays at 1st floor, each with bracketted cill and pedimented dormerhead. Cornice between ground and 1st floors, terminated by decorative consoles.

E ELEVATION: adjoined to Nos 66 and 68 Main Street (see separate listing).

W ELEVATION: adjoined to slightly lower building, Nos 56 - 60 Main Street (see separate listing).

2- and 4-pane glazing in sash and case windows to Fernlea; modern glazing to Roseneath. Concrete coped skew to NW. Rendered stacks, with red sandstone band; gablehead to W, ridge above bay to left of centre. Modern tiles. Cast-iron rainwater goods, with decorative iron gutter fixtures; downpipes continued through ground floor cornice. Octagonal cans.
