Description

Earlier 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay classical farmhouse,

made L-plan by later 19th century rear

extension wing. Squared and snecked rubble with ashlar

dressings, droved margins. Raised base course to S.

S ELEVATION: advanced centre bay and broad angle

pilasters. Pilastered doorpiece; flanking windows,

smaller at 1st floor. Cornice and blocking course.

2-storey projecting rear wing; projecting stair bay at

centre in re-entrant angle, masked at ground by porch.

12-pane glazing to sash and case windows with lying-pane

to left window at rear. End stacks with moulded coping

and decorative cans, slate-piend roof.

Rubble, brick-lined walled garden adjoined to W.

Statement of Special Interest

Similar entrance facade with angle pilasters at Dirleton

Manse; form used by William Smith of Haddington, James Burn

and David Hamilton.
