Description

Mid/later 18th century 2-storey house with small earlier

19th century steading to east. Whitewashed rubble; house

with painted margins; all roofed with graded slates. House: 3

wide bays, 3-bay west wing raised to 2 storeys probably in

19th century, now all under one long roof. South elevation:

main part has central corniced door and 4-pane sashes: wing

has 8-pane sashes flanking central door, blank wall at 1st

floor. Porch near north eastern angle, pedimented south-

facing doorway with lion mask, short screen wall beyond.

Straight skews, coped end stacks (1 rebuilt in brick).

Single storey lean-to at east end of north wall.

Steading: L-plan about cobbled open court beside main road;

2 cart openings in re-entrant angle of north range, single

door and slit ventilators and single door beyond, dovecot in

west gable above low wing east range with 3 roof lights.

Statement of Special Interest

Said to have been built as an inn.

Steading range on south side of main road excluded from

listing.
