5/7 storey towerhouse of stepped L-plan type. Elaborate
treatment of upper parts, 2-storey angle turrets,
re-entrant tower corbelled E. tower have balustraded flat
roofs and ogee capped stair turrets. Harled. Vaulted
ground floor, 1st floor hall groin vaulted with plaster
surface decoration and original screens passage. Moulded
plaster ceilings almost throughout. West wall of barmkin
remains, with remains of brewhouse (?) at N. end and conical
roofed tower at S. end. Begun by Mortimers early 17th
cent., completed by Wm. Forbes. 1626. Re-roofed 1826.

Repairs of 1826 were executed by John Smith of Aberdeen and
included altering and raising towers and new entrance door. (subsequently restored)
